THE CITY MUST SURVIVEOffering players a complex strategic challenge alongside a rich narrative featuring an alternative take on the 19th-century industrial revolution, Frostpunk weaves a story of how our planet mysteriously freezes, putting an end to civilization as we know it and forcing the human race to adapt to the harsh conditions. As the leader of possibly the last civilized society on Earth, you’re going to build the city your survivors live in, discover new technologies, explore frozen wastelands and most importantly, manage and rule society to prepare it for life in an unforgiving world.
Share Tweet Share Share Email Comments Frostpunk, a new game from This War of Mine and Anomaly developer 11 Bit Studios, is taking a more serious (but still fantastical) approach to what survival means in a video game. The Polish studio’s new title, coming to Windows PC in 2017, focuses.
Whether you’re an enlightened ruler or an iron-fisted tyrant, you’ll discover choices in this world aren’t as easy as they seem, and that holding power over people has a cost as heavy as the responsibility you feel in caring for them.Show More. Submitted on 1/19/2020 Review title of tomthekiller8Great an unique take on a classic buildings sim. This game is pretty tough. The learning curve can be steep. With that, beating it is that much more sweet. It's rather simple at first glance but the cold adds a huge challange as you will quickly be punished for not properly planning.
As your people start dying and your resources dwindle you might just have to start fresh.(Good tips). Focus on wood, put a little into steel/coal at first. Quickly build a beacon and explore. Youll need people. There the most important early on.
Dont run the engine until night. Dont focus on shelter until day two or three. Youll need heat and a permanent mines.
Get those early. Once the resources start rolling in you can quickly expand to meet your needs, medical facilities, tents and cook houses need to be built towards the center, workshops are better insolated. Build around steam hubs, they get power from your core so they share heat upgrades. And look up tips if you get lost. I know i did.😘. Its far in depth but not to deep. This game is BRUTAL and UNFORGIVING, it doesnt hold your hand so youll spend hours learning from your mistakes and have alot of new games BUT keeps pulling you back and back again with different strategies and tweaks from your last.
Its an apocalyptic, steampunk, city buildr game and now its free 😃. Submitted on 1/27/2020 Review title of St0neyWanKen0biA City Builder with PurposeUsually not into city managers, but was easily hooked into the harsh world that is Frostpunk. When you start your first run blind, you will fail, until you get the hang of what resources/research are more important and when.
Survivng to the 40th day gave such a feeling of accomplishment, especially being on the brink of defeat to where everyone gave up. The scenarios were more fun to me as they tied in some of the story about areas your scouts explore, and showed different playstyles to mess around with. Only drawbacks are how powerful some laws/research are that you always end up choosing them due to the winning buff. Cant wait for future dlcs. Submitted on 2/6/2020 Review title of Baby Kitty xoADDICTINGI wasn't sure what to expect going in.but once you learn what you're doing?? HOURS will fly by!!! Yes, as of Feb5th you cant see resources unless you mess w/ TV settings.but even if you don't, its easy to LT into the chart to see them.
I cant wait to see if they give us more!!!!Learning curve is around 20 min, 1 hour to really get it.Tips: Gather more WOOD early. Put AutoBots on coal to keep coal coming after work shift ends. DONT rush explore tree. Get flying hunters ASAP.
Get extended shift and put it on coal pile workers ASAP. Keep medical tents hot. 2 tents per 30-40 people. Submitted on 1/19/2020 Review title of Jacrispy FlakesIt Made Me Write My First ReviewI have never written a review, but this game compelled me to. Beautiful art style, awesome game mechanics (that actually work), and thought provoking moral dilemnas that push along the very unique plot idea of a struggle for maintaining heat in a ice covered, steam punk dystopia. I did not think I would like as much as I did, but this game is definitely in my top 3 for this year. Has tons of replay value due to its amount of choices it presents to you.
Cant recommend this game enough. Submitted on 1/28/2020 Review title of The Wurm KingDark Souls of city buildersThis game has a great look, great game play, great story. I have had no ui problems or issues. Now here is the thing, this game is hard and not for everyone.
If you want a game that will hold your hand and baby you for the first hour of game play, this is not it. You will lose alot, but that is how the game teaches. It will gut punch you, slap you upside the head, and when you think you have got a handle on things it will kick you below the belt as hard as you can. But when you conquer a scenario it is one of the most fulfilling experiences in gaming that i have had in a long time.
If you are still having trouble, go look on youtube. That's why youtube exists. Submitted on 3/14/2020 Review title of Mighty Wookie79Hardest but fairest survival city builderFrostpunk is so hard yet so rewarding. Everything is out to get you from the weather always getting colder before your ready to your own people unable to see the big picture and complain about everything this game is never boring and gives you an immense amount of ways to play, want to become God, want to be a dictator, or a simple public servant trying to save your people you can do it all. The book of laws can easily be your best friend or worst enemy depending on the laws you sign.
